Last evening the Baltimore City Council adopted the International Green Construction Code 2012 as an overlay to the City’s building, fire and related codes. It is that same belief that has led to the broad brand and wide market share acceptance of LEED as a voluntary green building rating system.

It was widely reported that the first green building litigation in the country was the 2007 trial court case of Southern Builders, Inc. In January 2007, Southern Builders, the general contractor, commenced a mechanics lien action in the Circuit Court. That green building tax credit was monetized and sold to 5 Maryland taxpayers.
