He assures us he has a 95 per cent success rate for spotting South America’s last surviving native bear, named because of the distinctive spectacle-like beige markings on its face and chest, so the pressure is on. While it would have been magical to see a condor in the wild, I’ll happily settle for a spectacled bear.
