I have noticed that when I get architectural models with excessive grouping that they bog down my MEP models. I try to keep the my linked architectural model as clean as possible and one thing that seem to help is breaking up groups. Open the architectural model and expand groups in the project browser.

In the past I have used linked architectural views in Revit MEP to show room names, numbers and door tags. Currently the room tags are reading information from the room object in the linked architectural model and I link that view. The space object in the MEP model linkst to the room object in the architectural model.

I often redefine some architectural families to be 2D in my model to keep the model size down and lessen interference issues. He told me that if you place all the families you need in a single project and group them, you cam insert that group into the architectural file and ungroup it there, bringing all the families in at once.

This gives us the option of linking a RVT model according to the location of its Project Base Point (PBP) and aligning it with our own.
