How on earth can an architectural company claim any type of BIM-enablement when they can’t get their 2D areas right? Any old architectural firm could be asked to prepare a quick study of possible future space-uses in a highly complex job for one of the world’s most prestigious clients and to get it wrong. Let’s not name names.

These divisions, while relevant to the architectural model, are ruining the possibilities of creating gbXML files without extensive work on the part of the engineer to remove the room separation lines, and then repair the damage done to the room names and numbers. I would agree that Zones are the solution in the MEP model.
