In 2006 I demonstrated (at Autodesk University) the then new line based family type by explaining how we could use it to document egress path requirements also known as exiting plans. Defining the requirements for documenting exiting are naturally going to affect the success of any solution we try to provide. Egress Path Options.

Daryl wrote on Monday that the concept of View Discipline isnt documented well. Software documentation tends to be a bit dry, too often a very literal, "Un-checking this turns the feature off". Daryl used plan views as his example of how the help documentation isnt accurate. They wont with Architecture. View Discipline.

Perhaps end-users security preferences are not documented adequately and shared with design and construction professionals. In addition, there still needs to be a marked improvement in the scope of work details on the contract documents mentioned earlier. It could be a lack of Division 08 and Division 28 consultants. That is the best.

These divisions, while relevant to the architectural model, are ruining the possibilities of creating gbXML files without extensive work on the part of the engineer to remove the room separation lines, and then repair the damage done to the room names and numbers. Book - Introducing Revit Architecture. Not ideal either. My 2 cents.

When Revit Systems was released in 2006, the essence of Autodesks marketing commentary was, "this is new software so it probably doesnt make sense to tackle a project with it unless the architecture team is using Revit too." We will still be able to compare our model against 2D documentation by importing various 2D CAD views into the model.
