While many Architectural, Engineering and Construction firms use Bluebeam Revu to convert CAD to PDF, there’s an often overlooked capability that is as plain as the nose on your face. “Nowadays, I draw in Bluebeam equal amounts to sketching or CAD.” It’s sketching and creating floorplan illustrations.

Even with the Microsoft Office 2010 release that gives you the ability to convert documents to PDF built-in, it’s lacking when it comes to collaboration for the AEC Industry. Realize this is just one secret to Bluebeam Revu and is built-in to every version Standard, CAD and eXtreme.

Specifically: how your building data is managed, no matter if drawing, flat-model or 3D model based. I can just about bet on any office running on very low efficiency because of the state of the working files. Having a CAD manager does not ensure you are safe, neither is an IT department. Don’t be smug.

A few months into the job, we were called into the Master Mechanic’s office (chief manufacturing engineer) and advised that the Walsh Healy act had passed and we were now responsible for OSHA compliance. Our bosses told us not to look to safety because they had no more information than they did.

If you are coming to Revit MEP from AutoCAD or AutoCAD MEP, you may be very used to specifying a duct system when you draw duct. Revit currently does not allow changes or additions to the standard leader heads, but a user in my office named Mitch came up with an idea that is just crazy enough to work. The idea is to draw a generic annotation shaped like a lasso and add a leader to it, but set the leader arrowhead to none. CAD Shack VIPs. RobiNZ CAD Blog.
