The ideal of social equity can be traced back to the works of Aristotle and while definitions vary and have evolved over thousands of years, most would agree humanity has not done enough, including purporting to address Social as one of the three component parts of ESG. But today’s ESG statements are only a very small step.

A certificate of eligibility must be obtained from the Energy, Minerals, and Natural Resources Department to apply for this credit. The credit may be carried forward for four years from the date of the certificate of eligibility. Department of Defense. Department of Defense may be deducted from gross receipts.

Companies must be less than 5-years old; have an annual payroll between $100,000 and $1 million; show proof of an equity investment of at least $250,000; pay at least 150 percent of the lesser of the state or county average hourly wage where the business is located; and meet requisite payroll thresholds. Employees must be Arkansas taxpayers.

If applying for a transferable credit certificate, no more than half the credit may be applied in a single calendar year. This program allows an approved business to offer an income tax credit to investors purchasing an equity investment in the business. New Economy Jobs Tax Credits are not transferable.
