Under a public-private partnership (P3) agreement with Ports America Chesapeake, a 50-foot deep container berth was constructed in 2012. Construction of Craney Island Marine Terminal is underway at the Port, while dredging began last fall and will continue for the next eight to 10 years. The cranes were also part of the agreement.
