Anyone who has developed a custom remodel residential project can tell you its not as simple, clean, or intuitive as a custom new construction residential project. build your as-built model in the existing phase. The model builder is going to have to do partial demolition of walls, floors, roofs, ceilings, etc.

Always Be Phase Aware In every project file your modeled components have a phase created and a phase demolished parameter whether you like it or not. If you place a model component in a view that is set to the New Construction phase (under View Properties), that component automatically gets placed in the New Construction phase.

Lets say you have a project with worksets enabled and the whole model is on Workset 1 by default. No one else is going to be able to edit ANY modeled elements that are on that workset. or do a save to central and relenquish user-created worksets so other users can work on the model too. I just ran across this old post while searching for a way to upload Impression for a Presentation project Im doing in Architectural Drafting school. I uploaded Impression, exported my Revit project as a DWG and imported it into Impression. It loaded viewing the model from the bottom of the floor, under the building.

Some food for thought: Could it (read that as "it will") be better to let the walls be modeled as they will be built (with dead spaces in between), rather than using in-place walls that simply mimic old methodologies, like CAD or Hand drawn lines filled with poche or hatching? It is more suited to a model that is about graphics.

When you model your geometry give it a material called "Variable" or some other material name that is not used in your project file. to active the Worksets feature in your project file. Revit will by default divide the project into 2 worksets "Shared Levels and Grids" and "Workset 1."
