It''s been 14 years since Revit formally began knocking on the doors of architectural firms. As Revit matured there were fewer opportunities for showstopper items. The rejection response or yeah, but response also matured to focus on the practical side of changing an office from this to that. Other responses were, "Really?

Well I hope to point out some of the potential problems you might encounter if you are going down the Revit trail. I hope to follow up this out line with some "how to do it" posts that will give you a little more detail on getting the Revit train a rollin'. You will need to accept what comes with Revit or customize for your office use.

With little fanfare Revit 2017 is here, brandishing a slightly changed big R logo. In past years I've proposed a What's New in Revit session for RTC Australasia. As a part of the crew for the Revit Technology Conference ( RTC Events ) I also see class proposals for a great many people who really want to say what's on their mind.

Ryan Duell, with Autodesk and The Revit Clinic , created a list of ten supplementary files for Revit and where they are located by default, READ the POST. The example paths from the Revit Clinic post are VistaWindows 7 location conventions, not-roaming profiles. This file is read once at the Revit application launch.

We should've stuck with pen & paper until a tool like Revit or Archicad or Tri-Forma came along. At least when we were drafting on paper (or whatever) a person really thought about what it was they were going to represent when that line was drawn, because no one wanted to redraw.

Construction is filled with complex processes requiring the collaboration of multiple teams—including office, engineering, and trades. We use Revit families to produce our assemblies and products. I continued grading until 2015, then went to school for drafting and design, where I was introduced to Autodesk products and BIM.

Revit developers observed that users were creating simple drafting views that contained some project information and then encouraging or insisting users remember to open this particular view when they saved and closed their projects. Enough about my confusion. Since I don''t seem to have one already, here''s one now.
