At the beginning of 2009, I don’t think anyone, including a national commercial general contractor like Englewood Construction, was prepared for the twists and turns that would face the commercial construction industry. As this year draws to a close, let’s look back on some of the highs and lows of what was a challenging year. High – Green building.
This was probably the best global warming cartoon I’ve seen. I caught it in yesterday’s USA today which I only read while I’m in the airport for some reason. There should be another guy asking, “But what if it’s true and we don’t do anything.” And then they’ll have a guy on the stage with a list of catastrophic events like ramped disease, hightened natural disasters, and cities under water.
I finally found a definitive study from Business.com that devotes a portion of their research to my niche…the construction industry. In the 2009 B2B Social Media Benchmarking study published in November discussed such things as ” What do people consider to be the most useful social media resources for business information?” and ” How do B2B companies judge social media success?

You can load the families, but try and create an instance and you will get an error telling you "Cant create this kind of element in this view in the current mode".

Problem ; You have created an enlarged view in Revit MEP and the linked architectural column lines shoot off into outer space instead of respecting the new smaller crop region. Analysis ; This is probably due to the architect locking down the column lines for use on thier plans. Solution ; In the linked file select the offending column line and right click on it.
The Turner Construction Cost Index was released today for the fourth quarter of 2009. And to nobody’s surprise construction costs are down again. However, they are only down 2.07% this quarter versus 5.77% in the first quarter of 2009. This caps a horrifically dismal year and brings the total of construction cost decline to 12.62%. . Karl F.

The American Institute of Architects' Architecture Billings Index (ABI) dropped more than three points in November, proving itself unable to sustain the positive momentum it generated the previous month, when it reached its highest mark since August 2008. The November rating of 42.8 fell from its October rating of 46.1 and was the lowest rating since 41.7 in August (September's rating was 43.1).

Due to a change in life circumstances, one of my coworkers is looking for a job in the Washington D.C. area. Shes an interior designer with two years experience. Shes been working in Revit for the past year and in my opinion is really good at Revit and has the ability to learn things really fast.
