I attended my first natural building workshop in Oregon in 1993. For the next five years, Ianto and I and other members of the CCC traveled all over North America and beyond, training groups in how to build their own homes from the ground under their feet. Another group takes the mixed cob and sculpts it around a window and door frame.

The balance of the top 10 consisted of Vermont (3), Rhode Island (4), Connecticut and New York (tied for 5), Oregon (7), Washington state (8), Maryland (9), and Minnesota (10). New York is one of the few states in the nation to have a vehicle-miles-traveled reduction target. New York posted an increase in electricity savings.
