If I just imported a project and I cant seem to locate the imported model the first thing I do is setup my radar. Always Be Phase Aware In every project file your modeled components have a phase created and a phase demolished parameter whether you like it or not. If you place a model component in a view that is set to the New Construction phase (under View Properties), that component automatically gets placed in the New Construction phase.

Lets say you have a project with worksets enabled and the whole model is on Workset 1 by default. No one else is going to be able to edit ANY modeled elements that are on that workset. or do a save to central and relenquish user-created worksets so other users can work on the model too. Some food for thought: Could it (read that as "it will") be better to let the walls be modeled as they will be built (with dead spaces in between), rather than using in-place walls that simply mimic old methodologies, like CAD or Hand drawn lines filled with poche or hatching? It is more suited to a model that is about graphics.

This isnt necessarily a bad habit as long as they are using detail lines and not model lines (detail lines are view specific but model lines will show up everywhere). We often have split level projects and weve had a lot of trouble isolating the stem walls and footings from the rest of the model for use in a foundation plan. It loaded viewing the model from the bottom of the floor, under the building. like the change is some new data for the model. I upgraded a model once, from Revit 2009 to Revit 2011, and an odd thing happened. This can reset data in the model.
